The Georgia House Higher Education Committee later today passed a package of sports betting legislation that would ultimately send at least $22.5 million a year to problematic and responsible gambling programs if the state legalizes mobile betting.
Georgia's General Assembly will adjourn until 11:59 p.m. ET. The Higher Education Commission passed a revised version of SR 579 and SB 386, and the Rules Commission put the package on the agenda less than half an hour later, but it has not yet sent it to the House of Representatives. 바카라사이트
If the House passes this agenda, it would have to return to the Senate or go to a conference committee for consent because the bill has been amended.
The issue has been pending before the Higher Education Commission for more than a month as lawmakers rallied support and massaged bills to find a consensus. As recently as Wednesday (March 27), proposals were delayed due to a lack of support. It wasn't clear there was a compromise until Thursday morning's vote was called.
By law, both houses must pass the constitutional amendment bill with more than two-thirds approval. Neither side has a majority, so bipartisan support is needed.
